Electoral Commission chair person madam Charlotte Osei has answered some controversial question that generated heated debate in Parliament that was posed by a member of parliament for Subin Constituency, Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi.
The Chair Person Mrs Osei first of all apologized for her mute voice, and further stated that she is not here to speak for the Commission but rather herself. She told the members that the Commission sold ID cards to protect journalists who covered the elections.
Notwithstanding those cards are very expensive, so the Commission together with the president of Ghana journalist association Mr Affail Monny decided to take 10gh in other to prints enough accreditation for theme.
Mr Eugene further probed the commissioner as to the number of media houses that showed interest to that effect. The said number of people that was quoted by the chair person is 2,271 for the interested media houses that applied for the accreditation. In all the coated amount is 4,534 Ghana CEDI’s
Further more madam Charlotte Osei disclosed to the members of parliament that the said amount is still intact at the accounts of the Commission.
